Hi

How do I back up and transfer the data from the Nitro 5 NH.QM0SA.001 OEM Samsung to a more reliable Crucial or WD?

Many thanks

Upgrade to either the WD SN770 or the SN850X Black or the Samsung 990 EVO Pro M.2 SSD drive as they are the fastest and best PCIe4x4 for your Nitro AN515-58 laptop and then clone your Samsung oem M.2 SSD boot drive with the WD M.2 SSDs use the Acronis True Image for Western Digital as that is WDs cloning software, with Samsung use the Samsung cloning software called Samsung Data Migration software, as both of these software's are very easy to use and works 100% and perfectly to change from an oem boot M.2 SSD to a larger M.2 SSD.

I predict many different answers on your question ranging from Cloning to Macrium Reflect. This is my 2 cents worth:

I prefer to back up a complete boot drive the old-fashioned way with a backup USB drive and USB Recovery flash drive using Windows7 backup "create image file" in Windows10-11 that takes less than 30 minutes for 200GB data. The reason I prefer the Windows method is 2-fold, it recognizes the Windows GPT 3 volumes format correctly and restores the 3 volumes in its original state (format), my second reason is the ease to restore the image file with the all-purpose Windows USB Recovery drive, no difficult decisions to make and drives are detected automatically. The backup image file can even be mounted with Windows Disk Management and opened in Windows File Explorer. And it is 100% free. Plug-in a large backup USB drive in a fast USB port and open Windows7 Backup (Control Panel). Click on the top left of the app screen: "Image File", and make a backup of your disk, after successful completion it will ask if you want to make a Recovery USB flash Drive, insert a FAT32 formatted USB2.0 10+GB flash drive in your USB2.0 port and click "Yes". Replace the SSD boot drive with a new GPT formatted SSD drive, insert the USB Recovery drive in USB2.0 port and the backup drive with the image file in your fastest USB port. and boot first with F2 to move the USB to the top of the Boot Devices list in BIOS (with some PCs this is not needed), save on exit and reboot without F2, you will get The WindowsRE screen, navigate to Restore an Image File on another drive:
