My laptop's battery isn't charging past 0% despite the battery health being good. I've had to keep the adapter plugged in so it can stay on while I use it. I checked the relevant drivers and downloads for my computer. I think this BIOS update could fix it. I'm having trouble installing the exe file, since the system wants at least 40% battery charge to proceed with the process. Is there anyway to bypass this?

  • Your Aspire A317-53 laptop should NOT have a faulty battery for such a new laptop or a faulty charging stage within, the problem is probably a faulty charging circuitry power stage that needs repairing. If your A317-53 is still under Acer 12 months warranty or its not, then take your laptop to either Acer Tech Support in your country or take it to an experienced technician in your area that has all the tools to be able to repair this laptop, as what has happened is that the battery hasn't been able to be charged and the battery has gone into a protective mode and it won't charge and needs to be either unlocked by a technician that has a Laptop Battery Analyzer like the NLBA1 or similar type or he can determine that just your battery is faulty and needs replacing with a new battery or your laptops battery charging power stage is faulty and needs to be repaired, as these faults can't be diagnosed by a user like you and you could end up wasting money on a new battery or unrelated things.
