Swift 3 SF315-52G-56M7 HDMI not working after C drive reformat

Hi, after a big 8-hr misadventure with Microsoft (who took control of my laptop when Office stopped working, and while manually deleting Office they deleted some important files and ended up having to reformat my C drive to re-install Windows) my HDMI is not working anymore. I know that the cable/monitor are ok because I connect a monitor to two other laptops and it's fine … I was told to "download the HDMI driver from the Acer site". I see two VGA drivers on the Swift 3 (SF315-52G-56M7) site. One for Intel and one for NVIDIA. Is any of them going to get my HDMI to work again? Which one? How can I find out? Is there something different I should be doing? Thanks …

Your Swift SF315-52G is a laptop that the G letter signifies that your laptop has a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce MX150 GPU in this Swift range of laptop models, so remember that. Go to the NVidia site and download the last NVidia driver for this GPU which is the GeForce Game Ready Driver Version 537.13  WHQL install this driver and also install the NVidia GeForce® Experience software for game settings and so that this software keeps all the latest NVidia drivers up to date for your NVIDIA GeForce MX150 GPU, see if that fixes the HDMI detection problem.

Also and with this HDMI problem, if the above doesn't do anything, it could be that the HDMI port is faulty or it needs the last bios version installed the bios Version 1.08 - titled "Updates ME firmware version and enhances BIOS Capsule Update function" that could fix the HDMI problem, so try that.

You need to also have the Intel drivers up to date by installing the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant scan, so that this software keeps all the Intel drivers up to date and to their latest driver version, also make sure that windows update is always up to date, don't allow windows updates to download any GPU firmware updates or any Insyde bios updates as you will brick this laptop if you allow windows update to that. if you keep your laptop up to date and run all its appropriate drivers your Swift laptop will operate at its peak performance potential.
