Screen went white on Acer Aspire laptop, shows only logo and then white takes over

Out of nowhere, my Acer Aspire Laptop's screen went white and then I rebooted it and it only shows Aspire logo, and then goes white and then it boots into Linux Mint and for a split second shows Linux Mint logo before white again.

Then, after like a minute and some, the screen begins to darken and it'll show grey and black lines and become totally normal for two seconds before white happens again and it keeps going like that, white then normal after a minute or so.

Everything works normal, logged into the system and it shows everything okay in those two seconds before it whites out again. I have no idea what happened or how.

Also tried to reset contrast and brightness values to default from console at startup but it did nothing. I have yet to try it on an external monitor.

UPDATE: Tested with an external monitor, it works normal, so I'm guessing problem is in the cables to screen from motherboard? I should open it soon and see what I can do.

First of all, what is your Aspire laptops model number, is it an Aspire 3 and its model is like A31XX-XX-XXXX or an Aspire 5 and its model number is like A51X-XX-XXXX? As just asking a question about your laptops image can vary from laptop to laptop, some laptops have specific things that you can look at that others don't.

Anyway, this is a definite hardware issue that is caused either by the laptops eDP cable or the mainboards plugs at either the mainboard or the screen, as the cable could be damaged or its plugs have come lose or its data pins have shorted out, giving an image like that or the actual LCD screen is damaged and needs replacing. If you get a perfect image from an external monitor its the link between your laptops mainboard and the screen that has a fault. Give us more information so that we can give you parts that you could look at and replace or refer that to an experienced technician that can do this work for you, if you are not a compute savvy person.
