Has anyone been able to upgrade the PO5-650 DDR5 memory successfully? I tried to install 32gb of Corsair Vengance 6000 and it does not work. I turn on XMP in the bios and then the system wont boot. I thought it would at least boot and run at 4000 or 4800. With XMP off the system boots and CPU-Z shows 32 gb of ram installed but Task manager only shows 16gb really bizarre! I read that the bios needed to be upgraded on the po5-640 to run higher DDR5 rates but latest released for the po5-650 is an A2 version - No B0 is available. If anyone has had any success let me know. BTW, I tried to use the crucial website but it never returns any recommendations.

yeah, that i can't answer that i know you guys don't have the same BIOS update as us PO5-640 users do and that's strange. and the highest i know anyone to use and work perfect is corsair dominator platinum 5600 2x16, i have 4x16 crucial ddr5@4800MHz and it works flawless. maybe call acer tech support and ask for level 2 help until one of the higher ups here might have an answer for you. what's the MHz with XMP off? and when you say it won't boot what is happening? because when i rebooted mine with XMP on it wouldn't either and i just kept hitting enter on my keyboard and that took me too my desktop to login. and i don't know why but i read somewhere just keep hitting enter if it hangs. i didn't get any beeps or long beeps or any noises it just wouldn't load at first.

The PO5-650 uses a H770 chipset, vs the Z690 in the PO5-640. They are both running DDR5, but an H chipset doesn't support overclocking. I don't think that's a BIOS option, it's in the chipset itself. So for a PO5-650 you need to stay away from the XMP profile memory modules and stick with JEDEC at the standard 4400 speed.

mine came with an H670 i wish it came with a Z690. mines the PO5-640-UB11 2021-2022 model.

I checked with Acer and they agree with the H chipset not allowing overclocking but they are still checking on whether we can use XMP modules or not. I'll post the response when I get one.

well i have the PO5-640-UB11 and i have 4x16 crucial ddr5@4800mhz and before the last bios update, we could not enable xmp at all and i was getting 4000mhz now with xmp enabled I'm getting 4800 and i have the H670 chipset. so maybe it can't go over a certain mhz? i know one guy here that has 5600 corsair dominator platinum 2x16 and it works flawless, and he has the same pc as me. so maybe 6000 is too high for it to handle.

The P05-650 that I have uses the Intel i7 13700F which should support up to 5600 XMP profiles but I would rather get confirmation from Acer vs ordering DDR5 5600 and having to return it when it didnt work. I should have researched this prior to ordering the DDR5 6000!

  • The Intel i7-13700F specs for its memory is what the ram capabilities are, also run the last bios version R01-A2 for this desktop, the ram specs for the cpu are as follows:

there ya go thx Steve you rule !!@!! and I'm sure Steve would also tell you it's the MB that's limiting us-you on the memory speed more than the 13700F. i know a guy with a 12900K in his pc that's the same as mine, ours came with a 12700F. he is running 5600MHz even Tho it says it only supports 4800MHz. so, there are variables no matter what.

Yes, as you know all about these desktops better than me Joe, the PO5-650 with its Intel® H770 Chipset mainboard memory specs support DDR5-4400Mhz type ram but with its new ram like on your previous Predator desktop that has a new bios update, will support DDR5-4800MHz type ram.

The below specs are from the Acer SG for the PO5-650 desktop for its memory, also consult Crucial Memory site and do their system scanner as this desktop can also be upgraded to a max total of 128GB at DDR5-4800MHz type ram into its 4x DIMM modules, go and see the exact modules that will work with this desktop.

yeah, Steve it gets very confusing, and we wonder why us users who buy these can't figure things out heh. with acer limiting us on the BIOS side of things doesn't help either. but we keep trying and learning and forging onward as they say heh.

I installed a pair of 16gb Corsair Vengeance 5600 mhz and once I turned on XMP they worked fine. So you can upgrade the memory and increase the clock speed using XMP. I now have 32 gb of ram running 5600mhz. Now I am going to install a Noctua cpu cooler to help cut down the heat!

I don't think there is 4400Mhz ram. The slowest I have seen is 4800mhz and the RAM in my computer is technically 4800mhz clocked down to 4400mhz it seems

there isn't, acer downclocked it through the MB but then gave us an update so we can get whatever the DDR5 is supposed to be but with limitations. i went with 4800 because that's what my 12700F is spec'd for and it runs amazing i must say. but i run 4x16 crucial, most will only run 2x16.

Ellie you are correct the ram modules in my P05-650 were labeled ADATA PC5-4800B. Its mind boggling as to why they would down speed the ram when XMP is an option in bios that can go up to 5600 mhz. I would have thought they would have the ram running its native 4800 but that wasnt the case. I am happy with my 32gb of 5600 mhz Corsair Vengeance.

well in all reality we shouldn't even need XMP to get our DDR5 memory speeds anyways if they didn't have the MB locked down. i think this only happens in OEM pre-built pcs. someone can correct me if I'm wrong.

I have the Vengeance 5600mhz ram (2 24gb) with XMP enabled and it's running at 5600mhz.

Which Noctua CPU fan will fit the 650-UB22 with the i7? I'm kind of new to this gaming PC thing but I read a post about the Noctua UH12a being used on the P05-650's.

the best and largest one that will fit in our case is the Noctua NH-U12A
