Aspire V5-122p not detecting USB key on boot and possibly other BIOS-related issues.

Hi there,

I still have this old Aspire V5-122p (the one with the A4 CPU) and set it up the recommended way for dualboot Windows /Linux, i.e. put the BIOS in UEFI mode, but disabled SecureBoot. That shows up the "Acer" splashscreen and not any indication as to which keys to press to access specific boot-time function. I just remember [F2] is to open the BIOS setup, and [F12] to choose a specific boot device.

On regular boot, GRUB shows, allowing me to choose whether I'd like to run Linux, Windows, or change the UEFI settings. Both OS run properly.

Boot priority is set as:

  1. USB CDROM
  2. USB HDD
  3. Internal SSD
  4. Network boot

However, for some reason I don't know, the USB key I'm trying to boot from lights up, but does not boot even though the priority should be there (bot order 2). It also doesn't appear when I call the boot menu with [F12].

The issue isn't the key itself. I tested a bunch of them, from generic 1GiB keys to late-model Kingston and PNY, USB2.0 and USB 3.1, and they all display the same problem on this computer.

The weird part: I installed both OS successfully from USB keys, but it now fails to see the other ones.
