Hi!

I bought myself a new nitro 5 last week, but have noticed an issue with the wifi connection. On my previous laptop I got about 450 Mbps download and 40 Mbps upload. On this I get around 50-100 Mbps download and 10 upload, while testing at the same time with my phone I get about 200/20. If I launch a game (valorant/ rocket league) this internet falls even further, resulting in massive lag spikes. Sometimes the wifi works fine and I get the 450/40 I'd be expecting, but usually not. How could I fix it? or is the internet just really bad on this model?

Uninstall bloatware, 3rd party browsers and trial versions, these all compete with Windows Defender and Edge with updates, turn off some of the telemetric in Task Scheduler to reduce chatting online. You cannot compare Android with a Windows network. Do a Ping command with your favorite website like: ping -n 10 community.acer.com or tracert community.acer.com you should get Zero packet loss and zero time outs on a properly maintained 4G/5G WIFI link, anything else is caused by your service provider (ISP) and have nothing to do with your Windows network settings or WIFI adapter. Fast WIFI speed is nice to have but quality (low Latency) is far more important: I much rather have a constant 20-30 Mbps link with 2ms Ping, zero timeouts and packet loss than 450 Mbps with 80ms Ping and 10-20% pocket loss and timeouts.

The issue is more thet I'm getting high latency variation in game, and a ping of about 50. on my previous laptop I consistently got a ping of 25-30, and almost never had issues with latency variation

You may have an outdated router that delivers a slower connection. This is also common if you have many people connected to your router at one time. Upgrading to a newer router may decrease latency in gaming. Also If you're connected via WiFi consider using an ethernet cable instead as it usually improves your internet connection.

The Nitro AN515-46 has a Wi-Fi 6 / BT 5.2 type cards of either the MediaTek MT7922A22M or the Qualcomm WCN6856 chip type card, there is no way that its the Wi-Fi/BT card that is in your laptop that is the problem, its your home internet and router, that is the problem so look at that part of your internet connection. As the Qualcomm WCN6856 chip cards support the Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) standard. Here are some of this card's examples like the MT7922 or the AC 8260NGW cards, so and if your laptops card is faulty change the WLAN/BT card to the ones above.

Below is the MediaTek MT7922A22M Wi-Fi/BT card that is one of the cards fitted to the AN515-46 laptop, so check if its driver is installed properly, as your laptop might have a corrupt driver, so have a look this PDF guide for this card as that should help you out for proper driver installation. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
