I have an Acer Nitro 5 AN-515-55-56AP.

I tried installing a corsair MP600 Core XT Gen4 PCIe x4 M.2 NVMe SSd - 4Tb

There is two m.2 slots in the laptop and I tried every combination with the corsair and my other nvme bootdrive, and every time the corsair is installed on either port, I get a blue screen right after the acer logo. The laptop then restarts with a message: running automatic repair(or something similar) under the acer logo but I get a blue screen before I can get to advance options and safe mode.

I have a third 2.5in ssd that stayed plugged in

Should I update the BIOS, get a gen3 nvme, a replacement drive from corsair?

Thanks

The Nitro AN515-55 takes 2x M.2 SSD PCIe 3 x4 drives and a 1x 2.5" SATA mechanical or SSD drive, Acer does not specify the max drive capacity of the mainboard, as the 10th generation Intel Core processors support up to 44 PCIe lanes, the actual number of lanes available will depend on the specific processor model and motherboard used.

With your Corsair MP600 Core XT Gen4 PCIe x4 M.2 NVMe SSD 4TB drive, be aware that this drive could have some compatibility problems, but from my experience (not with a 4TB M.2 SSD) as I'm using a PCIe 4 x4 in a PCIe 3x4 slot drive laptop, and in my laptop it works perfectly 100% with no errors or performance loss and/or gives me a blue screens and/or a BSOD errors.

For example, I'm using a WD 2TB SN770 Black PCIe 4 x4 M.2 SSD that is overclocked with the WD Dashboard Gaming software settings in Win-11 on a Nitro AN515-56 and I'm using it for hard core gaming sometimes for hours, with NO problems and/or any errors, My laptop total drive capacity is at 5TB total with 3x different interface speeds of the 1x PCIe 3x4, 1x PCIe 3x2 and 1x SATA-3 and 1x 2.5" SATA drives and it works flawlessly and perfectly.

Have a look at this Dell forum thread on this subject "XPS 8930, 4TB NVMe upgrade, BSOD Stop Code" and see if that helps you out. If you can't get the Corsair 4TB MP600 Core XT Gen4 drive to work, buy an external M.2 enclosure and use this drive as an external drive, as I'm sure that you can't send this drive back. Good luck and hope this helps you out.
