Сould someone help me figure out if there is any way to connect ACER Aspire A315-33-P7WY using HDMI to a third party monitor that supports 165Hz and get 120 or 144Hz at 720p. or FHD? I'm not sure but I think this laptop has HDMI 1.4 (not officially listed anywhere).

Yes, it is HDMI v1.4 port. The laptop's HDMI port should support up to 1080P (FHD) at 60Hz or possibly slightly higher frequency even though the monitor might be capable of much higher frequencies. You can use an ordinary HDMI cable from Lowes or HomeDepot for connections. Press FN+F5 to toggle the external monitor on and off.

Thanks for the clarification. Its native resolution is 1366x768 but after connecting a third party monitor I get a duplicate screen and I still only have 60hz available for selection. can I somehow display the image only on the connected monitor and make it 120Hz while keeping 1366x768 or 720p

Sorry, no. The 1366 x 768 is the limitation of the laptop screen, not its graphic chip. Here's a table of video output capability of the chip. 60Hz is max for all resolutions though it may go slightly higher with some external monitors up to about 75Hz. But not 120Hz. This is NOT considered a gaming laptop that can make full use of a modern high frame rate capability gaming monitor
