The screen of my acer laptop, has gradually been separating from the main body.

It means that the main wire, on the left hand side, is not covered - unless I put the black plastic covering over it. I thought about taping it down.

The laptop itself is in very good working order and although Windows Vista is no longer is supported, for what I need, it is more than sufficient.

I took it to a computer shop in my town, this week. The owner said he would unlikely be able to get the parts.

Maybe it would take more time and energy than he has the time? Or maybe genuinely there are out of stock.

I’d rather not take it to the tip, but understand pcs have a finite life.

I’m aware the lead is potentially dangerous, even though I never touch it and am very careful.

My question is this. Has anyone had the same experience with these old acers? Is it worth trying to source the parts and where would you source them from?

If I got the parts, there would be someone who could put it back together.

Thank you so much 😊
