I have only had my laptop since 31st May 2023. The battery has always drained quickly when not plugged in and for the last two weeks has only charged to 51% and only works with the adapter plugged in. If the adapter is disconnected the laptop turns off. Any ideas as to what the problem is? I only use the laptop for general internet surfing/shopping.

Are you using any battery Limiting bloatware or the ACC battery charge limiting option? If so disable or uninstall those programs. This is a new battery and adapter so there should not be a power issue. Try this and if still no progress, bring your laptop to Acer Services in your country, don't open the laptop to disconnect the battery as that will void the Acer warranty.

Disconnect the power adapter and insert a pin in the pinhole at the back of the laptop (pinhole has a small battery sign next to it) press the pin till you feel it click and keep it depressed for a few seconds. Plug-in the adapter and boot to BIOS with F2, press F9 that resets BIOS and save settings on exit. Boot to Windows and open Device Manager, uninstall these two battery drivers:

Thanks for this but I'm still confused. On the one hand you say don't touch the battery (which I wouldn't do) then tell me to stick a pin in the back of the laptop. I just do not feel either confident enough or certain enough to do this. I have found device manager without doing the re booting you talk about and the two programmes you mention are there but again-I have checked this and it is not recommended to uninstall them. I will just continue as I am now I think and then cut my losses when the battery dies & buy an HP which I had previously. I regret going cheap & buying Acer. I would b e extremely reluctant to send my laptop away for looking at when it contains all my information, documents and pictures. 5hank you again for taking the time to reply but as intelligent as I am I do not feel able to take the steps you recommend
