Hi,
First time posting here. Hoping someone can help me out. I have an Acer Aspire R5-571TG, it's almost 6 years old, given me almost zero problems in that time. Lately the charger is connecting and disconnecting repeatedly, about two seconds between connecting/disconnecting …beep…beep…. This usually only happens when the battery is completely charged to 100%. It doesn't happen all the time when I have it plugged in, it might connect/disconnect half a dozen times then stop for a while. Also, I have two chargers and it happens with both of them.
This morning decided to leave it unplugged and try some recalibration on the battery, but when it got down to 43% it died completely. So I closed the laptop, plugged it in again and without turning it on I let it charge up all the way, then turned it back on. I thought that might help recalibrate the battery, but it didn't fix the problem. However, the battery report did change significantly. It went from from this previously…

DESIGN CAPACITY 48,300 mWh
FULL CHARGE CAPACITY 44,865 mWh
….to this now….
DESIGN CAPACITY 48,300 mWh
FULL CHARGE CAPACITY 38,775 mWh

Most recalibration guides I've found tell you to do something like discharge the battery down to 5-7% then recharge to 100%, but of course, this battery won't get anywhere close to 5-7%. I suppose I could drain it down to 48% (43% plus 5%) where it almost dies, but I doubt that would get me anywhere. Also, my Acer Care Center doesn't have an option to recalibrate the battery, it only has a "Battery Health" checker which tells me the battery is "Good."I've been searching around about this topic for a couple days now all over the web, and I've yet to find any clear answers, except to just replace the battery and even then, few people seem to come back to report whether or not that fixed it for them. I suppose it's time for a new battery, but I wanted to seek some advice first.
Thanks,
Andy H.
