my swift 5 won’t start up and won’t charge the battery, I removed the battery now it starts and works fine on the charger, I measured the voltage on the battery port with a pre charged battery installed and I get 15,3 volts where I measure 16,7 on a other working one same model. Help needed.

It could be the issue with the battery, try to replace the battery or you can send it to Acer service and ask them to replace it.

  • Hi @EddyB it is likely that the battery has an internal short that prevents ignition with the charger. The equipment must be checked by a technical service to confirm it and, if true, change the battery.

Does your equipment still have warranty? if you do, contact Acer directly.

    Thank you.

You don't say just which Swift 5 model you have. There have been literally hundreds of different ones over the years. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like SF5xx-xxx-xxxx.

I replaced the battery, didn’t work, the laptop drains the new battery. Warranty is expired three months ago. I have another laptop, same model. I measured the voltage when charging, on the working one I measured 16.6 volts, on the one with the issue 15.3 volts ?????

if I remove the battery, and connect the charger it’s working fine, if I place a pre charged battery, it works okay, but as soon as I start charging the battery 🪫 gets drained. As soon as it’s empty the laptop won’t start unless I unplug the battery. 🤯

  • The equipment must be checked by a technical service, I do not know the problem, but it seems that it is something related to the charging circuit once the battery has been discarded.

    Thank you.

You shouldn't have needed a battery replacement at this age, much better to just allow Acer to fix it for you since you are still in warranty.
