Hey All,

As said in previous question, I just got my new Helios 18 in Australia and so far, I'm pretty happy with it, other than a couple of issues.

The second issue, is that each time I start a game I get multiple notifications from Nvidia - "unable to change display mode - click here for details". When I click on the link, I get some rubbish about the Nvidia app being unable to switch to the dedicated GPU because of the listed apps running in the background. It lists apps such as Microsoft Phone Link and a few others.

From what I can gather from monitoring in Predator Sense the laptop is actually switching to the 4080 GPU when a run a game, so the notification seems more of a nuisance than a real problem.

I have tried completely uninstalling the Nvidia driver and doing a clean install. Last time even tried the clean install after running DDU. The nuisance notification persists.

Just want to know if it's safe to ignore this notification and just disable notifications from the Nvidia app, or could it mean there is something wrong even though all seems to be working fine?

Cheers

Mick

Thanks @StevenGen for the confirmation about the Nvidia notifications being nothing more than a nuisance.

Also, I just realised how unclear my post was, where I should have stated that the first issue was addressed in a different thread/question.

What is wrong with changing the display mode, give us more details? Your second question, the answer is "YES change the settings" and disable the NVidia notification as its a nuisance notification and play the games with them, also and with the latest Nvidia RTX4080 driver, when you install these new drivers always do a clean install before any new updated of the Nvidia RTX driver installation, also have the GeForce Experience installed for gaming as that is also very useful.
