When using Intel Driver and Support Assistant there is an Intel graphics driver update available but the Assistant says that there is a custom Acer graphics driver installed and I have to decide if I want to replace the Acer graphics driver with the Intel graphics driver. What is different between the Intel graphics driver and the Acer graphics driver?

That would not be very practical for the many hundreds of different systems and PCs, no PC vendor is offering that kind of services. Windows forums will notify subscribers of a new update and online magazines and bloggers will do the same with new devices or OS features. Windows11 will offer optional driver updates that you could trust if you enabled that feature.

You should do what we all do: frequently check the Acer Support site for your model what the latest BIOS and drivers are and check this community category for threads on driver news/issues for your model. You could even volunteer and start a thread for your model laptop that announces new driver updates and fixes for issues but don't buy into the hype and sales promos of 3rd party vendors. Trust only Acer Support for tested drivers and Benchmark for your model for tested hardware.

Personally, I had very bad experience with Intel's DSA and uninstalled it, but others claim it works OK. The difference is that Acer modifies these display drivers to make it compatible with your MOBO, so you want to use only Acer drivers form Acer Support for your model laptop. When you modified your laptop or installed a Windows version not supported (no BIOS) by Acer you could use DSA to get the latest drivers.

Thanks. Does Acer send out notices when driver updates are available, or how do I check and see if there are updates?
