Hi to all the Acernauts.

I tried the PNY Performance 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz (PC4-25600) CL22 (Compatible with 2933MHz, 2666MHz, 2400MHz or 2133MHz) 1.2V Notebook/Laptop (SODIMM) Computer Memory Kit – MN32GK2D43200-TB, as advised by PNY support, but this kit is not compatible with the laptop. The end result is a black screen, fans turn on, and no access to POST or BIOS.

I also tried the TEAMGROUP T-Create Classic DDR4 SODIMM 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) 3200MHz(PC4-25600) 260 Pin CL22 Laptop Memory Module Ram - TTCCD432G3200HC22DC-S01 expecting for some kind of success because they were supposed to be backward compatible. No luck here either.

I already tried "ANSWERS BY ACER" Free-Based Chat Support, but they informed that they are a "3rd party support answersby" that "support only software issues on paid base", and want money just to give this information. They were not very enthusiastic about helping, dragging their feet more than 5 minutes at a time just to reply to any message while on chat. They also recommended me to call a 1800 number for this info, I am guessing to grab my credit card as well.

My question is:

Anybody out there can help me by recommending a 32GB Ram kit (2x16) that actually works with this laptop?

Thank you very much!

I tried the Acer's "Free-Based Chat Support" two times. It's not free, but a portal for selling the service. The second time, I waited a hour without any answer.

Go to Crucial dot com. Click their upgrade my computer button in the right pane. Then run their scanner on your machine for compatible upgrades. Crucial RAM modules are top of the line Micron manufactured. Generally speaking, it is usually safer to use modules and kits rated at 2400 or 2666 MHz for your particular machine since they are closer to the maximum speed allowed by the mainboard buss than the 3200MHz rated RAM modules.

    Hi Jack E/NJ.

Thank you so much for replying to my message.

I tried other RAM manufacturers websites after receiving your reply, and it appears that Crucial is the only that has such service, and the only way to go.

My case is a bit different than what stino78 posted. According to him, his laptop was able to recognize the correct amount of installed RAM. The problem could be entirely different there, because only Windows is having some hiccups. But he didn't get a kit. It's obvious that the Predator doesn't play well with high speed chips.

But my laptop is not reaching POST, and there's not a chance to get inside the BIOS.

I am a bit afraid now of trying to upgrade this Predator after the horrible Acer website experience, the lack of available information about this model and the chances of getting stuck with extra and worthless expenses, since the Crucial kit costs at least $49.28 with the available 15% discount to try out their free system scanner app.

Here's the list of compatibles DDR4-2400 SODIMM RAM modules(*) for the ACER Predator G3-571, Model Name: G3-571, Part Number: NH.Q28AA.001 —Motherboard Manufacturer: KBL | Model: Sienta_KLS (U3E1):

(*)Note that only DD4-2400 is listed as compatible. The OEM installed RAM is SK Hynix KOREA 8GB 1Rx8 PC4 - 2400T - SA1 - 11 | HMA81GS6AFR8N - UH NO AC 1720 | PC4-19200 DDR4 SDRAM (I hope I copied that correctly). Higher speed don't work according to my experience, even when they should be backward compatible.

Thank you very much once again, Jack E/NJ. Your help is appreciated.

  • Test these tips:
    a) with the lithium battery disconnected, check if the old ram memory works in both slots. It is interesting whether the two slots are working or not.
    b) if both slots are working, update the bios to the latest version. You have to be careful while updating the bios.
    c) after updating the bios, connect only one module of the new ram memory, always disconnecting the battery first, to check if the image is displayed or not.
    d) if the image is displayed, connect the other ram memory module.

If the problem persists, it is because there must be some incompatibility between the ram memory and the system, as mentioned by colleague JackE.

My experience too. Keywords — "should be" doesn't mean "are". Applies to Cr ucial scanner too. But maybe with a higher probability for success. Still not 100% guaranteed though, if that's what you need before giving Cruci al a whirl. 🙂 Good luck!
