Screen Flashing Issue on Nitro 5 AN515-57 Gaming Laptop When Unplugged: Causes and Solutions

Hello everyone,

I purchased a Nitro 5 AN515-57 gaming laptop around March this year. As far as I know, the laptop works best with games when you leave it plugged in. I always use the screen at 144Hz. However, sometimes I just want to use it casually with lesser resources used, like browsing the web or watching movies. So, I want to have the laptop handy, but as soon as I unplug it, the screen starts behaving with a slight continuous flashing. I figured out that if I set the screen's refresh rate lower (60.02Hz), the symptom goes away.

My question is, is this normal, guys? If it is not, what could be the cause, and how should I fix it? Thank you.

  • Hello! Can you tell me the bios version?

It is possible that the Custom Resolution Utility (CRU) program can help resolve this issue.

I believe mine is V1.19, which I believe is the most recent update from what you screenshotted for

  • Does the same issue occur when updating drivers from the intel and nvidia websites? Does the same problem occur when decreasing only the display resolution?

Answering your first question: I dont know if this is the cause but I do update drivers from intel (Intel DSA) and of course from Gefore Experience.

Second question: I never tried to decrease the resolution as I always keep it it native 1080p and not lower.

Don't use any ACC power options it interferes with MS ACPI battery protocol.

It could be simply power throttling to the CPU by Windows Advanced Power Plan settings: Processor power management, max. on power 100%, on battery 75%.
