I have an Acer Aspire 4755G with an Intel I7 2670QM, I was wondering if anyone has done the following upgrades:
Wifi card
Bluetooth Card
Ram upgrade

I already have 2x4GB of ram in the laptop, but I want to upgrade it to 16GB, I have only seen two people upgrade their old Acer Aspire to 16GB DDR3 I wanted to confirm it it is indeed possible. If so, should I pick DDR3L and the fastest speed I can find or stick to 1600 MHz?

Next, can I upgrade the Wifi card into a more recent standard, along with the bluetooth card.
in this post:

Someone Replied that the laptop can only handle certain Wifi cards, which is only 802.11a/b/g/n though that is still an upgrade from the stock Wifi card can it be upgraded more or not? Because the laptop seems to be an older model of what I have so I want to have hope that It doesn't apply and I can upgrade the Wifi card.

I'm trying to revive this old laptop because we cant afford a new laptop that I can use for College, since Web and Application development is in 3rd year, I would try and make use of the laptop for 2 years. I've already repasted with GC-Extreme, and have a 1TB MX500 installed, I'm tying any other upgrades that could help with the usability of it. Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!

Your RAM is already at the maximum limit of 8GB, 2x 4GB DDR3L and cannot be upgraded more.

Your Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n card with BT is still current, Acer no longer supports this 12-year-old notebook; no BIOS, no drivers available so I don't recommend changing your WIFI as you may get compatibility issues with the Intel MOBO.

I want a bit more clarification, because I'm still thinking about it the person who replied to me in a reddit post with the Acer Aspire 4741G was able to get 16GB of DDR3, and the person with the same laptop as mine

    https://egpu.io/forums/expresscard-mpcie-m-2-adapters/help-guide-acer-aspire-4755g-i7-2670qm-gtx-palit-1050ti-stormx-exp-gdc-beast-8-4d-mpcie/

Was able to get 16GB of DDR3 RAM. I'm a bit confused with the conflicting information, and there's not a lot of information about this, due to the hardware being old.

@superfastninja regarding the wifi card upgrade, I found a site that shows blocking the pins on the AC7260 card to work. On the front, use the tape to block the 4th pin from the right. On the back, block the 2nd pin from the right after the hole cut out. https://lupinelun-towel.blogspot.com/2016/11/acer-4755g-intel-7260.html This post is in Chinese so you might need to use google translate.

For the RAM, the maximum listed capacity is 8GB. The machine still boots if exceeded this capacity but I'm unsure whether it can recognize more than 8GB or not.

I've only seen two people who use 16GB DDR3 ram as I've said in my previous reply.
Thank you for the post regarding the Wifi card upgrade, but at this point I'm not sure if its worth it, though thank you for the information because I might upgrade the wifi card in the future.

@superfastninja you can try to bring the laptop to a PC shop that sells these RAM sticks to test the compatibility. There is not a lot of information to confirm whether 16GB of RAM would work.

    Update:
After a few months of debating, I decided to finally buy RAM and to see if it would work with the laptop. After replacing the ram, I'm happy to say that it does indeed work! I got a Samsung DDR3 SODIMM 2*8GB 1333Mhz and it works so far, if there are any issues I might say it here but so far after a short stress test in Y-cruncher, it works.

Though I am not sure if DDR3L works, however, upon researching a bit before buying the RAM, it is said that DDR3L is not compatible with intel 2nd generation processors and lower, so be careful when buying Laptop RAM.

  • That is great, as I was the one that replied to you on the Wi-Fi card, as I also did that to an Aspire 5750-2414 laptop ages ago changed its Wi-Fi frequency band 2.4 GHz only card to a Atheros AR5008WB Half Mini PCIe - 2.4 GHz/BT 4.0 on the same cpu the i7-2670QM which and to 16GB and it worked with 2x 1333Mhz 1.5 V type ram. Btw, the Aspire 4755G laptop Acer did not fit the i7-2670QM cpu to this laptop, as Acer only fitted the i7-2630QM or the i7-2720QM or the i7-2820QM cpu's to this laptop.

Btw, I upgraded an Aspire 5750-2414 ages ago from its i5-2410M cpu to the same i7-2670QM which the main criteria was the i7-2670QMs Intel specs for this cpu's Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type) that is 32GB at DDR3 -066/1333Mhz, so the cpu can handle the 16GB 2x 8 DDR3-1333Mhz and it worked for me also.

    Hello.

I have only one question: When you upgrade your RAM to 16GB in your 4745G laptop, only changed the RAM´s? Or something else were made in the BIOS also?

In advance thanks for your reply, due to here also have the same query's about the RAM and the WIFI.

BTW the wifi card also is upgraded?

    Regards

    Luis

I only upgraded the RAM to 16GB in my 4755G, nothing had to be changed in the BIOS.

As for the WiFi card, I did not upgrade it due to how much of a hassle it was to find a card that would work.
