acer aspire 3 A315-53 only remains on whilst continuously pressing a keyboard key?

Hi, I have upgraded to Windows 11, which worked fine for quite some time until something went wrong with the latest update? Or just a new hardware failure? Initially I thought it to be a problem with the power button, but then found that Windows does start up whilst continuously pressing F1 (after resetting the laptop) , later on I found that more keys do the same like Fn, Ctrl, but ideally keys without a function. Starting in Safe Mode did not help, neither uninstalling the keyboard. As I think this will be a hardware problem, is there a solution for this?

The only version of the A315053 that is compatible with Win-11 are the versions with the i5-8250U or the i3-8130U cpu's as the TPM is Win-11 compliant. Acer does not have Win-11 compliant drivers for this laptop but that should not be a problem. Try to do a hard reset by taking the main battery out, disconnect the rtc/bios battery and take the ram out, leave all compo0nehts disconnected for 30 min and reconnect everything and reboot and see if the keys work, if not then replace the keyboard as that should fix the problem, as these factors should not be happening with your laptop.

Also check the Keyboard FPC and the Touchpad FFC cable and plug if they are plugged in correctly and there is no errors coming from that part of the laptop.

Dear Steven, thank you for your swift reply. Much appreciated.I tried your advise and unfortunately the problem has not been solved. Is there any way to differentiate between a keyboard and a motherboard problem?

I have the exact same issue on my 2nd Acer Aspire 3 315

I've tried everything I could think of, I've ordered a new palmrest and keyboard yesterday as I feel its a keyboard error/issue. The motherboard is spot on (all 19v 5 v and 3.3 v are all good and all connections to the board are)

I'll report back saturday and inform you if it's worked.

Well i ordered a acer 3 palmrest and keyboard from ebay , it arrived yesterday, so I refitted everything and the laptop is fine. it is a keyboard issue. manifesting itself to look like a power issue.

I put everything back in the old housing and the problem was exactly the same.

Now I've put everything back together with the new palmrest and keyboard and it's like new.
