Why can't I get ound input from USB Sound Cards on Aspire 515-45 with Windows 11?

I have tried two or three USB Sound Cards and cannot receive sound from the inputs. Both models of sound card work properly with Windows 10 on a different computer. I have tried replacing drivers and resetting Windows and I'm sure that the Sound Settings are correct. Output from the sound cards is normal. Sometimes when I select the sound card for Microphone input to Sound Recorder, I get a brief syllable of sound before it goes dead.

Has anyone here had success with a USB sound card on an A515 with Windows 11?

Puraw, Are you saying that the USB ports on A515 can not host a USB Sound Device?

That's hard to believe. I know that my USB Sound Cards from StarTech and USBGear both provide sound output. I'm looking for the reason that they do not provide sound input.

Try the Realtek Audio Console and adjust the settings on this console that way as and if your Win-11 drivers are up to date the sound card should work. USB sound cards are easy to set up, and just as the name suggests, they connect to your computer via USB. Getting started on a laptop might require you to download and install software drivers that typically come with the device, so check that out. below are the full specs for USB and audio of your A515-45 laptop:

    StevenGen,

I am trying to use the StarTech ICUSBAUDIO7D USB Sound Card. The StarTech web page implies that their drivers are compatible with Windows 11 and work with their XEAR Audio Console. I believe I have installed the latest version of the drivers and the speaker output will playback the console audio and output from the DAQARTA Sound Generator. I believe that I have the Sound Settings correct for using the USB ports for Playback and Recording. I did notice that the device is more reliable when plugged into the right side USB 2.1 jack. But while Playback output is normal, I cannot record on Windows Sound Recorder. I get a brief syllable when I start recording and then it goes dead. I noted that you recommended the Creative Labs X4 7.1 USB device. It looks like it should be OK for my purpose (which is not for playing music).

I'll install the Realtek Audio Console and see if it can sort out the inputs.

    Thanks.

Go to the StarTech ICUSBAUDIO7D Drivers and Downloads as its got a driver Version: 1.04, so download that and install it onto the laptop as it should work,

Btw, I’ve got the XTRFY XG-SC1 External USB Sound Card below and that works perfectly and its just a simple PNP as I use it for gaming and with my F1 driving simulator where I have a 10K gaming desktop setup, as this is compact enough and works eextremley well to give me all the sound I need without an elaborate speaker setup.

All you have to do with this is to connect your headset to the SC1 and get on top of your game. This USB sound card brings you a soundscape optimized for esports, featuring the same sound signature used in the Xtrfy H1 and H2 headsets designed by some of the world’s most experienced pro gamers.

    • No software. No hassle. The SC1 is plug-and-play compatible with your PC, MAC, and PS4. Connect your headset, in-ears, or speakers and upgrade your gaming experience in an instant.
    • Measuring less than one-third the size of a credit card, the SC1 is an ultra-compact and convenient sound card. (It isn’t heavy on your wallet either.)

    Found My Solution

I discovered that the box for "Enable Audio Enhancements" in the Advanced tab of the Recording Device Properties was checked. Unchecked it and the sound input came back for all Apps.

Both my USB Sound cards (USBGear USBG-AUD3 and StarTech ICUSBAUDIO7D) now provide full duplex I/O.

So not a Windows 11 or ACER problem. Thanks Everyone!
