Acer Chromebook spin 713 black screen issue.

Hello,

My Acer spin 713 (c713-2w-5874) screen went black.

When I connect the Chromebook to hdmi and to an external screen it is working.

The chromebook camera is also working on the external screen.

I have opened the back lid of the my spin 713 laptop and of my screen and looked if the connections went loose, but I don't think it is (I disconnected and re connected the wires just in case and the screen still doesn't work).

Based on this information do you think it's a screen issue and I should replace it, a or wire issue or anything else?

You should try to re-seat the video/cam cable connectors at the mainboard and base of the screen at least a half-dozen or so times to help clean the connector contacts. Disconnecting & re-connecting once or twice usually isn't enough.

If the screen still remains black, the video/cam cable probably needs to be replaced due to cracks and breaks in the wires or traces that happen in the hinge area from wear and tear of opening and closing the lid screen too much. Google search the keywords C713-2w & lcd cable for vendors who ship to your location. Should be about $25usd for a new replacement.

The camera have the green light near it and it is recording when I test it, but the entire screen won't turn on and simply stay black.

Before throwing money to fix it, I am trying to understand if I should buy a new cable, a new screen or maybe something else?

Wait. Do you mean the screen is black only when you try to use the camera? Does the screen work in Windows desktop or is it black there too?

The screen is ALWAYS black on my spin 713 > when connecting to external monitor I can see everything (I am using it now to right this) > and additional information that might help to find out where is the issue: I have also been checking if my laptop camera is working, on my laptop the screen is still black and on the external screen I can see that it is working fine.
