Hi,

I'm close before giving up. This Laptop's Windows installation was faulty, so I went to BIOS/Recovery to make a reset. It deleted something but didn't install anything, so Windows won't start. I tried with bootable usb stick, install from LAN and with recently purchased installation DVD. But in all cases, it refuses to boot from. In BIOS, I set boot frum usb, LAN or DVD before wWindows boot manager and before HDD and in F12 boot options, there isn't any option to boot from, except to IP adresses.

I tried to find out, if there's any solution to update BIOS to have a boot option, but it seems tricky without a Windows running an .exe file to flash the BIOS.

Can anyone tell me, if I missed something? Any other way?

Thanks in advance.

Hi @srdm77 to receive better help, can you please indicate the exact model of the computer as well as the version of Windows you are trying to install?

Have you created the Windows installation USB with the ISO and the installation application that appears on Microsoft's own page?

    Thank you.
    All the best.

    Thanks,

I hope, this is the right number: Model No. Z5WE3.

Originally installed was Windows 8, but as mentioned, recovery doesn't want to work. I purchased a Windows 10 installation DVD and also the usb-stick was created with Windows 10, provided on the Microsoft homepage

Thanks, but that must be the code of the motherboard, look at the lower sticker of the equipment, it must be similar to:
    E1-510

    Thank you.
    All the best.

Ah, yes, on the sticker with the bar codes and the SNID, there is "E1-510-35204G50Mnkk"

Thanks for the information, the equipment is only compatible with Windows 8.1:

This means that the installation of systems like Windows 10 or Windows 11 are not guaranteed, which system do you want to install?

On the other hand, you should know what method you are using to install Windows, the USB method is currently the safest and most correct.

If you actually tried to recover from the recovery options to the original version of Windows 8.1 and it did not work, it is likely that the recovery partition is damaged or deleted.

You must load the BIOS default values and try with a USB, if F12 does not work in your case and the BIOS has no chance of activating it, you must create the installation USB with the tool that appears on the same Microsoft page.

    Thank you.
    All the best.

    Thanks,

I created the USB with the tool on the Microsoft homepage. But BIOS says "this device does not support boot from usb". Same message when I tried with boot from LAN and boot from DVD. So, I think, there is something wrong on the BIOS site. There has been a recovery option, but after selecting that, there was an error and since then, the option is gone.

8 was installed originally. Restoring automatically via LAN/internet connection didn't work, USB-stick and DVD are 10.

Have you loaded the BIOS defaults?
Review this installation procedure, I'm sorry, but it's in Spanish:

    Thank you.

Yes. Still the same. ACER Logo showing up for about two minutes, then attempt for automatic repair, click on options, tried again to reset to original installation, error message "problem with resetting to original setting". Then tried "use device" DVD, laptop restarts, again showing ACER for some time, then again, then message "system doesn't have any CD/DVD boot option. Please select other boot option in Boot Manage Menu". Same with usb stick.

Sorry, in that case, I don't know what the problem could be.

    Thank you.
    All the best.
