So apparently my newly bought laptop needs some bios updates, I checked it out and there were almost 10 updates in different dates. If I install the latest one, will it cover all the ones from before? Or should I install all and every one of them?!

    Hi,

    You can update to the latest version and don't need to update one by one, make sure that you take precaution when you update BIOS, during the process the screen may go blank and you might notice inactivity, do not touch any buttons on the keyboard and do not switch off the laptop/PC, you may have already knew all these but still I would like to emphasize.

    1. Turn off any third party AV programs, close all applications, programs, web sites.
    2. Do not update with Battery power only, keep connected to AC adaptor and use AC power.
    3. Make sure to update at a suitable time, when other users are not using the Internet in your household, select a time when you think there won't be any power cuts(you have no control over this)
    4. Disconnect any Printers, USB drives or any other peripherals.
    5. Once the update starts leave the laptop alone until it reboots.

    Complementing the tip of our colleague @brummyfan2, do also:

    1a. Turn off BitLocker (if enabled);
    4b. Run BIOS flash utility (as Administrator).

    Regards! 😉

    Also complimenting all the answers above, it would be very useful if you stated the exact model number of this "apparently my newly bought laptop needs some bios updates" as we can tell you if you do need a new bios or not, as a bios update is only done on and for special problems that the actual bios title says that it repairs and updates.

    I bought an Aspire 5 A515 57G with intel core i5 1235, but there are mupliple problems like screen flikering and stochastic freezings...

    Hi,

    If you have the trial version of Norton Security installed, use their Norton Removal tool to uninstall Norton Security, use Windows Defender for any security but if you prefer any 3rd party AV program, try different programs after reading their reviews.

    Ok that's better😁, I've got the same laptop but its the Aspire A515-57 without the dedicated NVidia gpu, and I've updated all the bios updates up to Version: 1.22 as both the A515-57 and 57G have the same bios and their last versions is the 1.22. Update to the vesrion 1.22 as and especially with your NVidia dedicated gpu Acer has updated in version 1.21 the dGPU power state setting and its better if you update to the last bios update. I've done all that and the laptop works perfectly and very fast with its I5-1235U and its 16GB ram and 512GB PCIe 4 x4 drive. Make sure that you update the windows and NVidia drivers and Intel drivers always, as that keeps your laptop performing at its best.
