Model AN515-44, recently bought new gaming headphones, tried to connect a microphone, nothing happened, the laptop does not see the microphone, did a fault check, the laptop found nothing, reinstall the drivers, as well did not help, tried many ways to solve the problem, the laptop also did not see the microphone from the old headphones.

Thanks in advance.

Assume you have a wired Headset (not a Headphone) with an RCA 3.5mm audio jack plug (note some plugs don't work with microphones combos make sure you try different type plugs or a RCA-USB adapter). If you don't get a prompt when you plug-in your device in the audio port with "What audio device are you using?) your headset is not detected.

If your internal microphone (onboard) is also not working when headset is unplugged, or you cannot get your headset microphone to work try this:

Make sure you are online (internet is working) and uninstall all drivers in the Audio I/O & Sound video and game folders. Exit Device Manager without trying to re-install anything. Then reboot the machine to let Windows detect the hardware and re-install the drivers. Best to do this in Safe Mode and for Realtek audio drivers and Console use DDU from wagnardsoft.com for the uninstalling.

If this is a BT set, check the pairing and BT settings.

Note: Headphones are designed to playback sound or music and are placed close to user’s ears. A headset always has a microphone that are attached to it, which allows user to speak. Use Headset and not Headphone in Windows if you want to use an external microphone.
