Acer Aspire 5580 Hard drive died during idle Is it just a glitch or is the computer gone for good?

BitteG Member Posts: 4 New User

Hi, I am using an Acer Aspire 5580 and after I installed Windows Vista, I left the computer on idle for about 3-4 minutes. When i suddenly heard clicking noises from the computer. I rebooted into the BIOS thinking it was just a glitch but the "IDE1 Model Name" value disappeared. I rebooted normally and it just entered network boot. Is it just a glitch or is the computer gone for good?

[Edited the thread to add model name to the title]

Wow, that is an oldie… It sounds as if the drive has failed. :(
