Where to connect the Power SATA cable to add an SSD on an Aspire TC-1780 ?

Hello,

I want to add an SSD hard drive in my Aspire TC-1780 I5502. It contains the above motherboard (H61A6-AD).
I will connect the SATA serial cables to one of the connectors 7.
I would like to connect the SATA power cable to one of the connectors 6 but I can't find a corresponding cable on Amazon (6 female pins to SATA power).

Should I connect elsewhere? And what cable?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,

You don't have to connect the SATA power cable to the motherboard, you can connect the power cable from PSU as shown in the video posted by @egydiocoelho in this link:

watch the section on the video @12:20 connecting the power cable.

The SATA III HDD power cables come from the desktop PSU, if you don't have enough then add another cable like below for extra SATA III power..

You need this SATA III Data and Power Combo Cable to connect to the SSD hard drive and the white power plug should connect to the PSU

#6 in your diagram is the power connectors for SATA drives. The first connector is likely taken up with an optical drive and a single HDD, the second connector adds support for two more HDDs or SSDs. If you don't already have a drive in #9 though, use that for your SSD. It will be quite a bit faster than using one of the SATA ports. If you are connecting to the SATA ports then the cable needed to give you support for a third and fourth drive is 50.VQED3.001. That plus into the white six pin connector on the motherboard and gives two SATA power connectors. I don't believe the stock PSU has SATA power on it, unlike the older model in that video.

Hi, I am also trying to connect an additional HDD to my Aspire TC-1780 but I have not been able to identify the necessary SATA cables online to connect to the power and data ports. The power port on the motherboard has 6 pins in it (the ones I have seen have 4) and the shape of the data connector is not a pure rectangle like most of the cables on offer. If anyone can provide a link to shops that sell the necessary cables I would be grateful. Thanks in advance!!!

Did you look in a plastic bag that came with the computer, maybe they're still in the box ??

If your model came with a DVD drive, the power cable for that has an extra connector for a HDD or SSD. If not it may or may not have a bag in the box with the needed power cable. If you didn't get a power cable, then here's the part number:
