Is there a recent firmware update that caused overheating damage to Helios 300's?

Hi,

My kids both had the same laptops purchased about a year apart.

They are now out of warranty but within a month of each other the motherboards were fried. One had smoke coming out and died completely. The other overheated and intermittently crashed until it no longer started. I took both to a repair place and they both needed a replacement motherboard.

It is suspicious that they died at the same time in the same way but there was a year difference in age.

I am wondering if a driver update has caused this and if there is any chance of replacement?

Cheers,

Paul
