Bluetooth not working in Acer Spin 513-53N

Hello community,

As per my last post, the Bluetooth in my laptop was not working, i.e., I was unable to connect to Bluetooth devices like earphones and mouse, which were working in other systems.

Now, I have tried the following solutions:

  1. Restarted my laptop.
  2. Disabled and enabled the device in Device Manager.
  3. Uninstalled and restarted the laptop for the driver to install automatically.
  4. Manually updated drivers from the Acer website.
  5. Installed other Bluetooth drivers like the Qualcomm Atheros.
  6. Rolled back Windows Update to as far back as I could.

The person who replied to my last post told me to get a new adapter as the laptop's internal adapter might be the cause. Today, I bought a TP-Link UB-500 Bluetooth Adapter that supports Bluetooth 5.0. I disabled all the Bluetooth devices from the Device Manager, inserted the adapter, installed the driver from the website of the product and restarted my device. It recognized the adapter, but it was still not connecting.

The devices that I am trying to connect are a) Microsoft Designer Mouse, and b) Boat Airdopes 441 Bluetooth Earphones.

I would love to have a solution to this. Thank you.

BT is integrated in the Intel WIFI card for your model, and you are trying an external USB BT adapter to work in Windows, how? You should get the Intel BT driver from Acer Support. Intel WIFI and BT are working together in Windows.

    Hello Puraw,

I have all the drivers updated from the Acer website and it is still not working. The Wi-Fi is working fine but it is the Bluetooth that is causing the issue. I thought that a new Bluetooth adapter would solve the issue.

Kindly tell me what can be a solution to this.

Since you have tried two different Bluetooth adapters, connected in two different ways to the laptop, the issue is more likely in the Windows Bluetooth software than in the hardware. In Windows Settings, what is shown here?

Okay. I got rid of the external Bluetooth Adapter and returned it to the store. As per my current internal adapter, this is what is shown in that page.

And when you click on Add device, then Bluetooth, what is displayed?

My cellphone's bluetooth was on and it was displayed. My Bluetooth earphones and Mouse are also displayed when they are turned on.

And when you go to add the earphones or mouse what does it do?

When I do that, it just shows "connecting" and then "Unable to connect, please try again."

OK, so it's sounding as if the issue is in the Bluetooth software configuration in the OS rather than a hardware issue. You could go the SFC/DISM route to make sure nothing is corrupted in Windows or the Alt-F10 route to reinstall the factory image.

How do I go to the SDC/DISM Route?

There are lots of tutorials out there on using SFC and DISM to repair a Windows install. Just follow the directions to make sure everything is no corrupted.

I did both SFC and DISM as per the tutorials. After that, I tried to connect to the devices once again and the error was the same.

OK, I'm at a loss then. The pairing process is failing. Do you get any entries in Event Viewer when it happens?

How do I access the event viewer? I am at a loss since months. I even tried to use a bootable USB to get into Mint OS and try pairing there. Is a fresh windows install the only solution left?

Hit the Windows button to bring up the start menu, then start typing Event Viewer. Hit enter when it's selected and it will come up.
