I have an A515-52G-59TN. Usually it is plugged in and suspended; I only use it occasionally, for a few hours a couple of times a week or so on average. Last year I noticed that the battery no longer holds a charge, and I replaced it with another battery over the past winter. Now the new battery does not hold much of a charge. Is this model known to damage batteries if left plugged in while suspended?

If you mean by "not much" 4-5 hours working mostly online browsing with Edge on Balanced power plan and not running any power consuming apps on the background (clean system, fully updated, no critical Event Errors), yes that is normal for a new battery, don't believe all the hype about 8-11 hours by vendors, that is when running on idle and dimming the screen to 80%. Shutdown completely when not using the laptop for long periods (don't suspend), don't use Fast startup but hibernate if you like to boot fast (or replace your HDD for an SSD). Sleep and hybrid mode (Fast Startup) consume power. Your new battery capacity needs to get registered by BIOS and Windows to get the correct stats, every battery vendor will tell you to fully charge first than discharge till the laptop turns itself off (hibernates), plug-in the adapter (don't boot) and charge till the amber LED turns blue. Don't use Acer Care Center apps, certainly not that 80% battery charge limit option.
If you still get low Full Charge values in Windows Battery Report, consider updating BIOS as Acer has implemented battery charging modifications for some models. Uninstall the 2 battery drivers with Device Manager and reboot:

These are the oem A515-52G batteries that Acer fits to your laptop,

Make sure that your AC Adaptor is functioning properly to these specs.
