Hello, I'm having trouble with my Acer. Whenever I play any games in my laptop while charging the game stuck on title screen, after that it freezes and crash. I've been having this issue since yesterday, I was playing Genshin Impact then suddenly the display just freezes but I can hear the sound, after a little while it became not responding. I tried playing other games like Destiny 2, Resident Evil 4 and Monster Hunter World and are having the same issue. I also have tried reinstalling/update GPU drivers, done a clean up, using DDU to clean install the drivers, change the power plan and it still crashes. I tried playing without charging the laptop and everything works normally, just a drop in fps but no issue at all. Any ideas on what is happening? Is the charger at fault?

Check out CPU/GPU temperatures while playing using msi afterburner.

Keep an eye on temperatures and note at what temperatures game crash or

    Try it 2-3

There are power problem reported on this forum related to battery limiters, ACC 80% max. battery charge option and BIOS update issues. Some issues were fixed uninstalling the battery drivers (see below) with Device managers and then rebooting.

Thanks for replying! Sadly the game freezes then crashes immediately as soon as I plugged in the adapter, the temperature was about 62c

Thank you for replying! I have tried uninstalling both of the drivers and still having the same issue. I forgot to mention that I also have tried system restore point which is at 27/05/2023 but still not working. Could it be a hardware problem?

You did not mention your BIOS, did you reset BIOS to factory defaults yet? Consider updating BIOS to version 1.28: 1. Update new battery support. 2. Update Intel ME 1427 for RS6. 3. Update Intel MCU (that is the MOBO!). It could well be the power adapter, but others have the same crashing issue, can you get hold of another adapter with the same voltage and Watt? If you look inside the DC jack with a small flashlight, can you see any black burning spots? on the power plug barrel and pin? Open the laptop and look at the other side of the DC Jack if there is something burned or a loose contact. What actually happens when you plug-in your adapter: The battery starts to get charged (battery internal logic issue, may have a bad cell), the CPU power state will go from 75 to 100% (could be a CPU driver or MCU issue) the GPU will get maximum power (bad adapter?) and Turbo Boost will turn on, worth checking Intel's Turbo Boost Driver (reinstall), cooling fans will go to maximum speed (any fan motor problems, not turning?). Personally, I would bring the laptop to Acer Services even if 3-4 years old they will service the unit but may charge a lot for major repairs (new motherboard) and if that exceeds the present value of your laptop you should consider getting a new Windows11 gaming laptop.

I checked my BIOS version and it's already 1.28 although I haven't tried resetting BIOS to factory defaults, might as well try it. And yes, I tried to get a hold of another adapter from my friend but it'll take a bit of time. In the meantime I'll try the methods you mentioned above and will bring on the updates later. Thank you so much for the guidance!
