I own an acer predator triton laptop and the past year my laptop display cover is detached from the display and hinge. All the service care are saying it may cost around 6-7 thousand just for the cover. Please let me know what would be the price to fix it and everything works great including display too.

INR 7,000 is only $84, that is a very good deal. Tell us what currency and what is your Predator Triton model. Don't recommend DIY, let Acer Services do it for you. I make shifted my 4 year old a515-45 broken hinge and panel with 2-component epoxy cement but can no longer close the lid.

Ya my currency is INR and Device id is F54E5F0B-3C3C-44B7-A08E-DC2218DDFAD7.

I took my laptop for Acer service and they did something and within a week again same issue.

Please let me know a trusted agent or service centre in Bangalore.

I live in the Philippines, that with the currency was a lucky guess😀

My hinge had the same damage, the short hinge arm is fastened by three tiny screws to the inside bottom of the polycarbonate panel corners that will break loose when the hinge gets stuck and you force the lid open; the freed short hinge arm will push the panel front and bezel out. It looks worse than it is actually but Acer Services USA will charge $200-$300 to replace the hinge assembly and panel for a Swift (according to Amazon). How old is your laptop if more than 4 years I would not invest that kind of money in an older laptop. That ID does not give a hit so I cannot check the vintage. If you are a DIY you can patch it up with HD epoxy "metal" adhesive, place a small glue clamp over the corner and screw it tight so you see no longer a gap. There are some wires running in that corner so be careful not to pinch a wire with that glue clamp.

A good carpenter will do it for you. You won't be able to close the lid normally as the arm will break loose again, use your index finger and thumb to push the bottom lid corners in or out till almost closed and when traveling push the lid closed and carefully open the lid slightly on the sides and the rest pushing your fingers at the bottom corners. I have been doing it since last year and it doesn't bother me. Plan to buy a new laptop next year or so.

You can try to patch-up that hinge yourself, get an industrial heavy duty (for metal) 2-component epoxy cement and apply some (don't overdo it as it may get on the screen) behind that loose metal hinge arm and around it. Push everything back in place and screw the small glue clamp over the panel corner. Make sure you don't pinch the wires. You may have to glue the long grey horizontal plastic bar separately to the lid with Superglue gel, not the thin stuff as that will creep all over the place. Leave the lid open 24/7 and use F1 (Zzzz) for sleep mode.
