    Is this your laptop:

    Aspire E E5-575G-53WP i5-7200U Notebook 39.6 cm (15.6") HD Intel® Core™ i5 8 GB DDR4-SDRAM 2000 GB HDD NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 950M Windows 10?

The question is what kind of batteries are you buying?

There are 2 types of batteries for your model: 17 Volt and 11 Volt. Check the model number on your battery and in what group it falls (4 cell or 6 cell). I suspect it is the 6 cell, 11 Volt and that is obviously the wrong battery as the laptop won't boot with it.

This is copied from the battery vendor on Amazon:

    "AS16A5K,KAS16A7K, AS16A8K (17V 4-cell). If your old battery's model is s AS16B5J or AS16B8J (10.95V /11V 6-cell), please do not order this battery. They are not interchangeable."

The laptop will not boot if the voltage supply is too low, when you took the battery out the adapter provided the correct voltage and the laptop booted OK. I am not sure why the laptop won't boot with the battery when the connector is plugged in, maybe your battery is none of the models mentioned above and for a completely different laptop?

Once you have the battery issue sorted out and the laptop is operating normally, let the new battery drain till the laptop turns off (hibernates), then plug in the adapter and charge it to 100% till the charge light changes from amber to blue. Only need to do this the first time with a new battery.
