My Nitro 5 AN 515-58 Is not reading my second SSD

So back in October I bought a Nitro 5 that was nothing but problems, screen lockups, crashed and would not boot said no drive. I sent it back to Acer several times and it never got fixed. Finally they said they would just replaced it with an even better model. I got a Nitro 5 515-58 and I love it, but it wont read my SSD. The old laptop only have a 256 gig drive and I installed a second SSD and it worked fine. But now I am trying to but that drive into the second slot of new PC and it never shows in BIOS. Its a WD_BLACK 1TB SN770 NVMe Internal Gaming SSD Solid State Drive - Gen4 PCIe, M.2 2280.

It worked in the 515-53 but I cannot get the new 515-58 to read it or find it in the BIOS. I've tried some of the steps people mentioned for different models but to date none of them have located the drive and set it up. Any advice?

Did you initialize the new SSD in Disk Manager as GPT, New Simple Volume with a drive letter? Is the PCIe port you use Gen 4 compatible or only PCIe 2.0? Is your BIOS set up for NVMe?

No the drive does not show up in Disk manager, I tried running the Windows Memory Diagnostic and it never found the drive. According to the specs both pci slots are supposed to be Gen 4 ports. As for the BIOS I am not sure if it is NVMe I will have to check. Is that on the BIOS cntrl+S screen?

Did you disconnect the lithium battery before installing the new ssd? Have you checked if the ssd is showing up in the bios information tab?

Yeah I made sure the battery cable was off when I set the card in the slit. It does not show in the BIOS going to go check the BIOS settings in a minute

I looked all over my BIOS there is no setting for NVE.

Don't see your SATA mode (RST or AHCI) press Ctrl+S (S as in Sierra, not 5) for all tabs, that will show the hidden options.

I would disable Fast Boot as that may hinder USB booting if needed and the Lid open resume enabled may give issues if you just want to open the lid to clean the keyboard/screen.

When I get a break from work I will try and see if that makes anything show up. I have a feeling it won't I have used the Cntrl+S command before and the only hidden thing it shows me is Touchpad options…never anything about RST or AHCI but I'll see what I can figure out

Have you tried connecting the micron ssd to the other port m2 2280? That way, if the ssd is recognized on the other port, then the pcie port is not in trouble.

I would also try plugging the sn770 into the pcie port the micron ssd is installed on.

Always disconnect the battery first.

I mean I could try that but then the other SSD is the boot drive and after the nightmare I had with the orginal lap top they replaced I am trying to avoid getting the "No bootable drive" error and sending this one back for repair.

Also I hit control + s and it did bit add anything new in any of the screens for RST or anything. Disabled those other things.

I don't think the above procedure will damage windows startup. If the notebook were mine, that's what I would do. Just be careful to always disconnect the battery first.
