Just bought a new ACER laptop and am having trouble transferring an existing Gmail Windows 10 computer to a new Windows 11 ACER laptop. Keep getting a message that says to use IMAP. I cannot find any reference to IMAP on my new computer. Please help.

IMAP is the type of email server (pop or imap), so im guessing you are configuring email :)? are you using the inbuilt windows mail or something else?

If you are using Office365 with Outlook than you may have your Gmail account configured as IMAP (same as MAPI). If you never used Outlook before I recommend you do now with your new Window11 laptop that comes wit a 1 year Office365 trial version. Note that you can purchase a life time (legacy) office Professional 2019 version for $<40 on the web,

Office365 has great support online that will help you to set up Outlook as IMAP, once that is done you go online, and GMAIL will synchronize with your IMAP account and all your e-mails will show up. Gmail will be your mail server, the best and safest way to work in Windows11.

If any questions about Outlook, type @Puraw at the top of your posts.
