My Acer Aspire A315-54 does not display "Standard VME Express Controller" in Device Manager

I am trying to install a Crucial P3 Plus PCIe 4.0 M.2 2280 ssd in my Aspire A315-54 Laptop without any success. My laptop was supplied with a 2TB SATA HDD and this is still working correctly. The "Standard VME Express Controller" does not appear as a "Storage Controller" in "Device Manager". I thought this was standard device/driver supplied with Windows 11. Can anyone advise? Thanks

Did you check your model with Crucial's SSD Compatibility app.?

Your laptop comes with 256 GB NVMe PCIe 2.0 and supports a SSD up to 500GB, IMO the Crucial 500 GB PCIe 4.0 (Gen.4) may not be compatible with NVMe PCIe 2.0.

My Laptop did not originally have a SSD drive. - only a 2TB HDD. I did run the Crucial Compatibility app and the purchased SSD was one of the drives recommended.

  • Is the p3 crucial ssd showing up in the bios info tab?
