Hi,

I would like to know if I open my Acer Spin 3 to perform a battery replacement, would I void my warranty?

What is the exact Spin 3 model number of your laptop, and why do you want to change a new laptop the battery? Is there anything wrong with your battery, as if there is, the battery is covered under Acer 12 months warranty, that is if you haven't opened your laptop, As changing your oem Acer fitted battery to a higher mAh battery type, can cause damage to your laptop and will definitely void your warranty if anything needs covered under warranty, so be very careful, as you can damage your laptop. Don't change your battery, leave it Acer oem and to the battery that Acer has fitted to your Spin 3 laptop!

Officially Yes, in practice if you only upgraded your RAM modules and/or battery, Acer may still provide free services under warranty, they did in my case in the Philippines. But you run a risk when you have a major breakdown (say a new motherboard) that Acer will not repair that under warranty anymore after you have replaced the battery.

It actually depends on which country you are in. Warranties are different for each country/locale and some allow you to open them and some do not. If you are in warranty though, why would you replace the battery at your own cost instead of having it repaired under warranty?
