C ports on my Spin 7 The mouse stopped working

I only have 2 C ports on my Spin 7. I used a USB mouse through an adapter. The mouse stopped working in 1 port and then only in the other. Now the mouse does not work in either port. I use the adapter HDMI port to run my 2nd monitor. No USB device - mouse or flash drive will work. My computer guy is at a loss. Can this problem be fixed or is my Acer Spin 7 now a paperweight?

Could be either a driver or hardware issue. Try the driver uninstall method first if that does not help, bring your laptop To Acer Services in your country for checking.

I assume you are running Windows10.

Uninstall all your USB drivers with Device Manager preferable in Safe Mode

Reboot and let Windows10 reinstall the USB drivers. Check your USB mouse.

You don't tell us which Spin 7 model you have. Your full model number is usually on the same sticker as your serial number, it should look something like SP7xx-xxx-xxxx. Do the ports work at all with an actual USB-C device, or do they only fail when the adapter is connected? It's possible the adapter has fried the ports, but not all that likely…
