After screen behaving strange and flickering after powerbutton -> "turn display off"

Hi all,

I just got a new Acer predator Helios 300 and I'm having some issues when I press the power key and press "turn display off".

It worked for a bit but when I did it last night, the screen kept turning on and off and my peripheral game pad was also lighting on and off. I could see glimpses of my screen, and sometimes a grey screen with my cursor on it, sometimes red fragments. Looked like the screen was bugging out.

After moving the cursor via the trackpack, it did not return to normal. It kept flashing on and off every 1-2 seconds. I was plugged in at the time. I had to power it off and on again to use my laptop properly again. I have a video I took.

Can anyone help? At the moments I can't use the "turn display off feature", but having this screen issue does not give me a great deal of confidence in other problems that I have not discovered yet and I am considering sending the laptop back.

Open Control Panel. Search 'button'. Click 'change what the power buttons do' in left pane. Click 'change settings that are currently unavailable' near top of next pane. Scroll down and UNcheck box for fast startup. The make sure turn display off option is visible in the drop-downs for when I (short) press the power button. Save settings. Shut down Windows normally.
