Model is an acer nitro an 515-45.

If i have my laptop on my lap, and i lean over to get something on my desk, with the laptop sliding off my lap and with me slightly pressing against the side, the screen goes black until i release pressure. It's a little odd because the laptop didn't fall and there's no marks or cracks on the side of the laptop, it looks perfect and i'm not putting much pressure on it. I do know that these Acer laptops (Acer predator, also) can have hinges and screen bezels that just destroy themselves and seep through your fingers like sand over time.

I'm a little worried as a sudden disconnect of say, a screen able while the battery is in, can fry the motherboard. Is there something i can do myself to fix this issue?

Is the power adapter plugged in when that happens? A lose plug or bad connection is normally causing what you experience. If that happens without anything connected like adapters, external USB drives and p is no longer under warranty; open the laptop, disconnect the battery cable from the motherboard and check for any lose connections, especially the DDR4 modules (main suspect) are they properly seated and locked, unlock and reseat the DDR4 modules again then lock the bracket till you here a firm click. Check also the SSD/HDD drives if screwed down properly.

Hello, i see an answer was chosen here but I just need to expand a bit on this issue and update you on things tried. Sorry for late response.

The power adapter is out when it happens. I checked for lose connections and found none, included DDR4 memory. I re-seated the NVME's. What i have noticed is that it happens when i try to close the laptop lid using only the right side of the lid. Now, i never do this, but just an example. I can tell it puts immense pressure on the right hinge, but momentarily the screen goes black and shows colorful lines likes it's been damaged, but then goes away. I re-attached the screen cable and also opened the front bezel to check if any wire is being crushed or something, but i don't really think one is. Something is reacting badly to pressure the screen bending and putting pressure on the hinge on the right side is all i know :S

I can tell the right hinge is a ticking time bomb given the sounds it makes sometimes also.

Also numerous clicking sounds comes from the right side when i open / close the screen. Same sometimes with left in exact spot but much less so. I do know there's a screw under here that goes into the motherboard so i wonder is there empty space between the screw and the board?

Maybe you clicked on Yes, that will result in an Answer, thanks anyway😉

Regarding the hinge problem, you definitely should bring your laptop to Acer Services in your country since it may eventually break loose from the frame and MOBO that will cost a lot of money to repair. Also mention to check the cables and contacts that may cause this BSOD.

At the moment it's not too bad, if i notice it getting worse, i will do that. I don't want to pick and prod at this thing any more lol, they are delicate.
