Is it possible to replace just the keyboard on an Aspire E5-575-33BM? Or do you have to replace the keyboard, keyboard frame and palm rest?

Some replacement keyboards for the E5-575 (for example sold on Amazon) include ONLY the keyboard. And if you read answers to the questions they say the you have to melt the plastic rivets securing the old keyboard to the frame/palm rest to remove the old keyboard before installing the new keyboard. (Then you re-attach the new keyboard somehow.)

The cost of just a new keyboard runs $15 to $25, but the cost of a new keyboard plus frame & palm rest seems to run at least $70. I have had several laptops and have never had a keyboard fail until this one, which is about 5 years old. Two keys: the "1/!" point and the "Q" key are only working intermittently and are getting worse. (I have another keyboard attached via the USB port to write the post so I have a "Q" key.) If I am up to $70+ in cost for a new keyboard it seems like the money might be better spent buying a new laptop.

So again, my question: can I replace just the keyboard, melting the plastic rivets perhaps?

Thanks,

Bob
