Bagged myself a real good deal on a G3 605 as my first dip into windows pcs for gaming and media work.

Looking to upgrade the GPU to an AMD Vega 64. Currently running the 500w version of the G3.

Is the AMD compatible and will it fit the case?

Get out your ruler. This AMD GPU 280 mm long x 111 mm tall x 40 mm wide. But the main problem is that you're trying to put it in a mid-range pre-built having 10yo technology. The AMD card consumes nearly 300 peak watts and needs two 8-pin PSU power inputs. Not much power left over to run all the other fans and components on the machine. The CPU itself uses almost 90 watts. I instead recommend considering an nvidia GTX-1060ti or RTX-2060. You might also squeak by with an RTX-3060.

Aw ***** didn't know the AMD card was gonna be such a pain! I actually thought the opposite, that Nvidia was gonna be tricky. Thanks for the tip.

I'm not really crazy about gaming, it's mostly to hang with my boys on the weekends. They got much higher specs but the games we playing ain't that intensive.

Nvidia drivers seem to be more polished in Windows environment than AMD's. Linux is different but catching up.
