Hi everyone!
This is the first time I've written on the Acer website, I hope I haven't entered the wrong section.
I looked at the topics present if there was someone to solve my problem, and since unfortunately it has not been updated with new answers I try to see if I can get help.
About 2-3 weeks ago I bought a new laptop, precisely from acer for personal needs, so everything was perfect in terms of upload / download speed, graphics, audio and everything else.
I already have a seagate external Hard-Disk, fully functional with lots of files present, and normally displayed on my other two PCs, a PC assembled with Window 10 Home and a MacBookAir with 10.12.
Only that if I connect the aforementioned Hard-Disk to the Acer it does not display it under the heading "This PC", precisely preventing me from opening it, viewing it, adding or removing files already present, despite the fact that it is indeed a working Hard-Disk with the light on it shows that it works, and the problem continues to occur only with this specific Hard-Disk, in fact if I try to connect via usb, for example, my phone makes me open it normally.
Although I can't see/click it under "This PC", the Hard-Disk is still displayed under the following headings:
-Under "USB Devices to Unplug" as "Expansion"
-Under "Disk Management" as "Disk 1", and therefore not even with its name (I'm sure it's Disk 1 because by disconnecting the Hard-Disk it disappears)
-Under "Device Manager" under "Disk Drives" with the name "Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device"
I have already tried the following solutions to be able to fix the problem, but without success:
-I tried the other 3 USB ports, but it still doesn't show (Unfortunately I don't have another usb cable to see if it's the one causing the problem as it has a "strange" connection on the hard-disk side, and I don't even have a USB extender cable)
-If I try to manage it from the "Devices and printers" section and then I do "Properties", as status it gives me "The device is working properly.", and under "Criteria" it gives me the check on "Quick removal" but not on "Enable write caching on device", the latter doesn't let me click it unless I first check "Better Performance", but even if I do this it doesn't change anything and still doesn't display it under "This PC", and the "Volume" section doesn't show it to me.
-If I try to open it from "Manage Disk", it displays it as Disk 1 and not with its name, but if I right click and then "Properties" it opens it as "Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device" and it displays everything completely the volume even if it gives me it as empty (200MB Partition 1, 931,19GB Partition 2, 128MB unallocated), with no files on it, when I'm absolutely sure that at least half of its memory, if not less, is occupied by my other files.
Also, the only thing that gives me more to click is to make it a "Dynamic Disk", not knowing about these things, I didn't click it for fear it would format it.
It won't even let me put the drive letter assignment.
-If I try to open it from "Manage Devices" I find it under "Disk Units" with the name of "Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device", updating the Driver does not change anything and still does not show it to me, uninstalling and reinstalling the device does not change nothing, and if I go to "Properties" it displays it to me as in the point where I described it in the "Devices and Printers"
Only that if I try to connect it to my other two PCs that I have available, the MacBook Air 10.12 and the Windows 10 Home, it displays them both correctly as an external drive under the letter (S:) or with the name of "HardDisk-Seagate" , and makes me open it safely with all the files present, being able to view, add, remove and modify them, so the problem continues to persist only on the Acer.
I leave below the names of the Hard-Disk and the Acer PC on which I'm having this problem:
-External Hard-Disk: Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device, 1 TB.
