Problems with external Hard-Disk not displayed and with no possibility to add, modify or remove files

Hi everyone!

This is the first time I've written on the Acer website, I hope I haven't entered the wrong section.
I looked at the topics present if there was someone to solve my problem, and since unfortunately it has not been updated with new answers I try to see if I can get help.

About 2-3 weeks ago I bought a new laptop, precisely from acer for personal needs, so everything was perfect in terms of upload / download speed, graphics, audio and everything else.

I already have a seagate external Hard-Disk, fully functional with lots of files present, and normally displayed on my other two PCs, a PC assembled with Window 10 Home and a MacBookAir with 10.12.

Only that if I connect the aforementioned Hard-Disk to the Acer it does not display it under the heading "This PC", precisely preventing me from opening it, viewing it, adding or removing files already present, despite the fact that it is indeed a working Hard-Disk with the light on it shows that it works, and the problem continues to occur only with this specific Hard-Disk, in fact if I try to connect via usb, for example, my phone makes me open it normally.

Although I can't see/click it under "This PC", the Hard-Disk is still displayed under the following headings:
-Under "USB Devices to Unplug" as "Expansion"
-Under "Disk Management" as "Disk 1", and therefore not even with its name (I'm sure it's Disk 1 because by disconnecting the Hard-Disk it disappears)
-Under "Device Manager" under "Disk Drives" with the name "Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device"

I have already tried the following solutions to be able to fix the problem, but without success:
-I tried the other 3 USB ports, but it still doesn't show (Unfortunately I don't have another usb cable to see if it's the one causing the problem as it has a "strange" connection on the hard-disk side, and I don't even have a USB extender cable)
-If I try to manage it from the "Devices and printers" section and then I do "Properties", as status it gives me "The device is working properly.", and under "Criteria" it gives me the check on "Quick removal" but not on "Enable write caching on device", the latter doesn't let me click it unless I first check "Better Performance", but even if I do this it doesn't change anything and still doesn't display it under "This PC", and the "Volume" section doesn't show it to me.
-If I try to open it from "Manage Disk", it displays it as Disk 1 and not with its name, but if I right click and then "Properties" it opens it as "Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device" and it displays everything completely the volume even if it gives me it as empty (200MB Partition 1, 931,19GB Partition 2, 128MB unallocated), with no files on it, when I'm absolutely sure that at least half of its memory, if not less, is occupied by my other files.
Also, the only thing that gives me more to click is to make it a "Dynamic Disk", not knowing about these things, I didn't click it for fear it would format it.
It won't even let me put the drive letter assignment.
-If I try to open it from "Manage Devices" I find it under "Disk Units" with the name of "Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device", updating the Driver does not change anything and still does not show it to me, uninstalling and reinstalling the device does not change nothing, and if I go to "Properties" it displays it to me as in the point where I described it in the "Devices and Printers"

Only that if I try to connect it to my other two PCs that I have available, the MacBook Air 10.12 and the Windows 10 Home, it displays them both correctly as an external drive under the letter (S:) or with the name of "HardDisk-Seagate" , and makes me open it safely with all the files present, being able to view, add, remove and modify them, so the problem continues to persist only on the Acer.

I leave below the names of the Hard-Disk and the Acer PC on which I'm having this problem:
-External Hard-Disk: Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device, 1 TB.
-Acer Laptops:
Aspire AV15-51
11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-1155G7 Processor @ 2.50GHz 2.50 GHz
RAM installed 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)
Device ID 60E199AA-A653-4F6B-A5E5-C820B84327F0
Product ID 00342-21999-46977-AAOEM
System Type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

Windows 11 Home edition
Installation Date: 04/12/23

I hope I haven't left anything out, but if you need any further information or clarifications, I remain at your disposal, and I apologize for the very long post and thank you in advance to anyone who will take the time to help me!

Welcome to the Acer community, the problem that you have is that the external HDD is formatted with another laptop and OS and your new Aspire AV15-51 with Win-11 does not recognise the drive as the 1TB Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device hasn’t got an assigned drive letter to it and the Win-11 OS does not recognise it, yes the format is recognised but the OS does not as its got no drive letter DO NOT FORMAT THE DRIVE because you will lose all data on this drive. See this guide How to fix problems with an external drive on Windows 10, as shows how to assign a drive letter and this wolks 100% for Win-11 too.

You need to go into Disk Management and see if your external 1TB Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device, has a drive letter like D:\ assigned to it or any letter it doesn’t have to be the D:\ drive letter, if it doesn’t then do this:

Right click on the main partition (middle of the drive) > click on Change drive letter and path > Add > then assign a drive letter D:\ to this external drive as after you do this the File Explorer/This PC will recognise and show the external drive the 1TB Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device, and you will be able to use the drive.

@StevenGen If I connect it to windows 10 it quietly makes me change the letter of the main partition, all except the letters C and D, but if I connect it to the acer, the main partition memory is not even clickable, in the sense, the only option available is "Delete the Volume" and it doesn't let me assign any letter, except to the unallocated part of memory which is only 128 MB compared to the 931GB of the main one, so I don't think it's the unallocated problem.

@Puraw I don't think the mac has partitioned it, that if I connect it to the mac and then to windows 10 they show me the exact same memory, the exact same size with the exact same files, not if this has anything to do with it (?), and precisely on windows 11 on acer it is as if it did not exist.
I noticed that it has some unallocated memory, but that's only a measly 128MB compared to the primary's 931.19GB.

Your best solution is to go to the Win-10 laptop that recognises this 1TB Seagate Expansion SCSI Disk Device and install the excellent FastCopy 64-bit version software (this is a fast file and directory copier) and quickly copy this HDD onto another new 2.5” 1TB HDD or SSD drive, as this 1TB Seagate drive must have some issues within its head or platter and that is why its not working 100% with your Win-11 Aspire AV15-51 laptop. Be safe and retrieve all the valuable data while you can, as this 1TB Seagate drive is probably on its way out and you will lose all the data on it, if its giving you these sorts of problems, as the 1TB Seagate spinner drive should work 100% under Win-11, don’t leave it too late .

I’ve had the same problem with an external 1TB Toshiba spinner HDD (less than 12 months old) that I had all my very valuable data on, where the HDDs head was damaged and the HDD died and couldn’t be recognised the same as your drive, and I had to take this drive to a specialist Data Recovery technician (lucky he only charged me $250 + I had to supply him a new 2.5” 1TB SSD drive this time, as he said it was a very basic job) but he told me NOT to open the HDD or attempt to recover any data with any of the software’s on the web and take it straight to him, lucky that I did as he recovered 99% of the data onto that new 2.5” SSD drive. So be warned of all these factors, as and if you keep using this spinner HDD, the drive will stop working and you will have to get a Data Recovery technician to recover your data and it will cost you at least USD$600.00 plus these days, which is six times more than a new 2.5” 1TB HDD or SSD drive.
