Monitor on newly bought Aspire A515-56G-50L6 does not turn on

Earlier today, I unboxed a newly bought Acer Aspire 5, plugged in the charger and turned it on to start the setup process. The screen remained completely black, but the laptop was clearly turned on, based on the power indicator light and the sounds coming out of the speakers. Attemptimg to turn it off and on again did not change anything. I was able to complete the setup process by connecting an external monitor. But I would really prefer to be able to use the built-in monitor instead, as the external monitor is quite dated and doesn't properly fit the full screen region regardless of my resolution settings.

Solutions that have been attempted so far:

  • Restarting the laptop; did not solve the issue
  • Installing all pending windows updates; did not solve the issue
  • Updating drivers; all screen-related drivers were already up to date
  • Accessing BIOS; seems like a bad idea, as I've been unable to get the laptop to display on the external monitor when accessing BIOS

Hi @Mholi you also can't see the first BIOS boot screen before Windows starts to load?
If you do not see it and you have been able to use an external screen, the problem is the screen, as you already know, if the equipment is new and you have already tried all these possibilities, contact the seller and/or Acer.

    All the best.

There is no boot screen whatsoever. The screen has remained completely dark the entire time. Not even a flash of the backlighting. Sad to hear that there is no simple solutiI can get it returned to the selleron to this, but I'll be able to manage with the scuffed external monitor until I can get it returned to the seller for a replacement.

    Thanks for your help!
