Urgent help needed. Acer Nitro 5 AN515-45 Network problem.

My laptop is experiencing issues with the network. I was using a wireless wifi network but now it only accepts ethernet. No networks show up anymore. I have tried the following things:

  • Uninstalling the wifi driver. In my case the driver is: Killer E2600 Gigabit Ethernet Controller
  • Reset windows 10
  • Installed windows 11
  • Checked my router and it was working.

And basically almost anything related to wifi that i've seen on acer community.

Please help me.

A quick check if this is a "handshaking" (security) issue with your router at home or a faulty WIFI card/driver; try to connect your laptop to a public broadband point inside a mall or in Starbucks, etc.. If no WIFI connect issues outside your house you have to check the security protocol settings in Windows. If you are also unable to connect to any public broadband point you probably have a faulty WIFI adapter/driver (Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 or Killer E3000? ). Uninstal all WIFI drivers in Network Adapters, Device Manager, and reboot. If still no WFI bring/send your laptop to Acer Sevices for checking.

Note: Acer Spport provides Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 drivers for your model but not for the new Killer WFI adapter.

Intel has the following Killer WIFI drivers:

    10.063.1014.2022 (Windows 10), 1125.010.0720.2022 (Windows 11) for Intel® Killer™ E3000, E3100G
    10.060.0615.2022 (Windows 10), 1168.010.0720.2022 (Windows 11) for Intel® Killer™ E2500v2, E2600
    3.1422.1129.1 for Killer Networking Software

Well, as I said, I can't connect to anything but ethernet. So I can't really go into my local starbucks or a mall since nothing would show up on the wifi tab. When I open device manager and go onto network adapters there is just the Killer E2600 Gigabit Ethernet Controller and the basic WLAN drivers.

Did you check it at view - hidden devices and whether wireless is listed there on device manager as a hidden device.

If you dont find it in device manager as a regular device or hidden device then it means computer is not detecting the wireless hardware.

Since you have already reinstalled windows - My simple solution is for you to get a external usb wifi adapter.

But just not to miss any of the diagnosis …

I am really sorry for the inconvenience..   Let us do the basic steps first..

Doing the power drain and bios defaults will really help.  Kindly follow the steps given below:

Turn off the laptop. Disconnect or unplug the charger cable, devices or any other cables connected to your laptop. Close your laptop. Turn it upside down.  On the bottom of the laptop, you can find a  pin hole. It is a tiny hole. You can a find a battery symbol indicator next to the hole. It is like a + and – sign symbol as though somebody is trying to shift the battery out. Insert the pin on to the hole for 30 seconds. Remove the pin. Flip the laptop. Connect the charger cable, turn on the computer.  Only on laptops where the battery is inbuilt you can find the battery reset hole on the back of laptop.

If you don’t find a pin hole on the back of laptop then you might be using removable battery. There is no need to unscrew anything to remove the battery.  Turn off the laptop. Disconnect or unplug the charger cable, devices and any other cables connected to your laptop. Close your laptop. Turn it upside down.  On the bottom of the laptop, please look at the top or bottom depending on the way you look at it. You can find a long door. It is a battery removable door.  Just below that you can find a latch.  If you move the latch you can remove the battery door. Once the battery is removed, flip the laptop. Open the top cover, press and hold the power button for 1 minute. Connect the battery back on the back of computer. Connect the charger cable back and then turn on the computer.

If you don’t see a reset pin hole on the back of laptop or if you are not able to remove the battery (if it is inbuilt) then please unplug all the cables and devices out of laptop.   Hold the power button for 1 minute.  After releasing the button you should wait a while before plugging in power. Just because the button has been pressed doesn’t bleed off all the residual electricity on the motherboard. Wait 15-30 minutes before plugging in power. Then once power is connected wait for a full battery indication before turning the system on. That allows the battery to fully reset it’s internal statistics.

Connect all the cables back and restart the computer.

While turning on the computer, tap f2. It will go to bios. Press f9 once. It will show load bios defaults with a yes or no popup. Press enter. Popup screen will disappear.  Press f10 once. It will show save changes popup with yes or no. Press enter. Computer will restart and it will load into windows.

    It should work fine..

Try windows + r - on run type ncpa.cpl - check whether you are able to see the wireless not connected icon along with ethernet icon. If it is detected you will find it here and also on device manager.

This is what appears after what you've told me. Only ethernet appears here, nothing hidden in device manager either. I'm just gonna take it to a specialist

The Killer E2600 is NOT your Wi-Fi/BT card it’s the LAN, so don’t do anything to the Killer E2600, troubleshoot your wireless card that is either the MediaTek MT7921LE (follow that link to fix Card Not Working In Windows 11) or the other Wi-Fi/BT card is the Intel AX200Wi-Fi/BT card, which you should look at Support for Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 as that has all the proper ways to install, update and troubleshoot this cardYou are probably doing the wrong thing and not tackling the wireless problem at the right source.

These are all the AN515-45 network LAN and wireless cards specs:
