Aspire ES1-512 How to get touchpad working again? How do I get that back please?

Aspire ES1-512; Something happened to my HDD and win 10 won't repair, so I put 500Gb ssd in and reinstalled win 10 from iso.

But no touchpad action How do I get that back please?

I tried to install win XP but it would not install, I get a blue screen error. Is this because XP doesn't recognise sata interface?

I need XP because programs I want to run need XP. I'm currently heading to a VMware setup for them, because I need to be getting on…

Any help would be appreciated..

Touchpads don’t go wrong with just drivers, as they are very reliable modules. There must be something wrong with either your touchwoods cable that connects from the module to the mobo or the actual touchpad module itself, so check that out first. Yes I know, that your touchpad worked before the Win-10 install, but these modules do go wrong all of a sudden (it happened to me with an old Aspire 5750) and I had to replace the whole top case as the touchpad was glued and a part of the top case, like on your Aspire E1-512 laptop is also. This is especially for an old laptop like the E1-512 so check that out first and if the touchpad is faulty then you will need to replace the whole top case, as the touchpad is a part of that.

Btw, SATA has no problems working with Win-XP, so there is no problems there. I've got XP working on a 2.5” SATA-3 SSD (which your laptop should work with also) running the Oracle VM VirtualBox on the Aspire 5750 laptop as a workshop eManuals for my 2012 daily driver and my old bikes that I restore and XP works perfectly.

Touch pad issue

First we need to determine whether it is a driver issue or a hardware issue..   

Please install the i/o drivers first and then install the touch pad drivers..  

Try fn + f6 or f6 alone  or  fn + f7 or f7 alone on keyboard to disable and enable the touchpad. 
 
Please look at the key f6 and f7 key on keyboard. You can see the hand symbol with fingers. That denotes the touchpad function key. On some models it will be on f6 and some models it will be on f7. So we need to use the right key depending upon the laptop model. If fn + f7 is not working then we have to use f7 alone to make it to work. On some old laptop models there will be a separate button right  next to touch pad area which is below the space bar.  It is used to turn on and off the touch pad.  On some old models it will be right next to power button. On all new models, f7 key is used to enable and disable the touch pad.  If you would like to disable and enable the touchpad, please press and hold  fn key on the keyboard and then press f6 or f7 once. If the touchpad is not getting disabled you can either press f6 alone or f7 alone without holding the fn key. It is used to enable or disable the touchpad..    

After disabling and enabling the touchpad check how it is working.. 

If it is still not working 
Go to support.acer.com 
chose your country 
type snid or chose your model 
go to drivers - Install the i/o drivers first and then install the touch pad driver 

It should work fine.
