Acer Aspire A315-59-53ER max ram speed? Hard drive upgrade? Ram differences?

I was looking at different ram speeds, and it seemed that the ram may peak at 3200 MHZ. I was wondering if I would notice differeces between going with that or else 2666 MHZ ram. I want to know if there are any real world differences between the two speeds of ram. Based on calculations, the 3200 MHZ ram would have a speed in nano seconds of 13.75 with a CL latency of 22. The 2666 Crucial ram at a CL of 19 and 2666 MHZ would have a speed of 14.25 nano seconds. Does it matter which one I pick? Could I use a higher ram speed? Also would it be worth considering upgrading my hard drive from the Kingston 256 GB SSD in regards to the fact that it supports fourth generation NMVE's? I suspect that the 2666 MHZ ram should be adeqate for minor gaming.

The DDR4-3200MHz CL22 which is the suitable RAM for your laptop is allot faster than the DDR4-2666Mhz. Your laptop the Aspire A315-59-53ER comes oem with 12GB ram (with 4GB on board soldered ram) and its max total is 20GB capacity. So you can add a 1x 16GB DDR4-3200MHz CL22 RAM module (don’t use overclocked ram like Intel XMP type ram as it won’t work and you will not be able to boot your laptop) as the total of 20GB will make your laptop allot quicker than 12GB, install CPUz and look in sections Memory and SPD at what your oem ram specs are and upgrade the ram appropriately.

With the PCIe4x4 M.2 SSD drive that your laptop has, I suggest that you upgrade to an M.2 drive of 1TB capacity, as installing the faster 1TB PCIe4x4 M.2 drives will make a huge difference also together with the max RAM capacity upgrade. You can upgrade to the faster and reasonably priced type of PCIe4x4 like the WD SN770 Black drive or you can go all out to the higher end M.2 drives like the WD SN850X Black or the Samsung 990 Pro NVMe 4,0 M.2 drive that is the most expensive

Note: any PCs max RAM is always governed by the cpu specs and how the manufacturer designed its mobo and bios to accommodate the cpu ram specs to work within their model laptop/desktop for that cpu, your laptop comes with the Intel i5-1235U cpu and theoretically and as far as Intel is concerned, they designed this cpu to handle a Max Memory Size (dependent on memory type) of 64GB at RAM speeds of up to Up to DDR4 3200 MT/s or DDR5 4800 MT/s. just as an example my Aspire A515-57-56UV has the same Intel i5-1235U and comes with DDR4-3200Mhz CL22 RAM modules and can have a capacity of 32GB, but the Acer specs do not recommend or list the DDR5 type ram for this laptop, so it must be that the bios restricts this cpu from running DDR5 ram.

Okay I appreciate your answer. My laptop does not have any soldered on ram. CAS latency is critical to determine the actual performance of ram along with MHZ of the ram, and there's only a 3.63% difference in nanoseconds for data transfer between 2666-3200 since the 2666 has lower CAS latency. I will definitely consider that hard drive option. From what I have read, there is not a huge speed difference in the slower MHZ ram with everyday tasks, though I will consider 3200 MHZ ram options.

I think that the laptop is restricted to 32 gb of memory because that is the max listed in the specs. The DDR5 ram has 262 pins vs 260, so it is not physically compatible even if the chip is.
