Acer Chromebook 315 Running Diagnostics during update

I have an Acer Chromebook 315 and I'm updating my laptop. It's updating very slowly, I'm talking about only 21% after 1 1/2 hours. Since it's taking so long, I decided to run diagnostics. Will running diagnostics while it's updating mess up the results? It says it can't connect to the gateway and "high latency to HTTPS websites ". What's the problem and is it because I'm updating at the same time? Please

Reboot the laptop, as the laptop can't connect to the update source website, make sure that your internet connection is 100% and working properly, then try again. I know that this is a very annoying thing but your update must have had a bad link half way through.

Ok, it finally updated. But when I go to connectivity, it still says can't contact gateway. I also changed my mobile hotspot device thinking thar was the problem. I live in a motel and it's the only way I have wifi on my laptop.

Check with your Motel people to make sure they aren't having issues with the router and access points.
