Keyboard Issue on Nitro 5 These are the only keys that exhibit this lag.

I have a weird keyboard issue. The period key, comma key, question mark key, and keypad number 9 key all experience lag. These are the only keys that exhibit this lag. Does not matter if I push hard on the key or softly. I can push key normally and no response but when I hold the key down with normal pressure, in about 3 - 4 seconds the key press is recognized. Then the keys may or may not continue to work for awhile before showing the same lag as earlier. Any help would be appreciated. Not sure if it is hardware or software issue. All 4 keys started acting up at the exact same time.

To me that sounds like some dirt or moisture got under those keys, but my #9 key on my keypad is far away for the 3 keys you mention so that would indicate some other keyboard problem.

When I get a "slow" key or "rubbery" key response, I break a bamboo toothpick carefully and pull one part off so the remaining part has a very thin leaf (shave) left, the thickness of paper. That bamboo leaf I wriggle under the dirty keys starting at the key corners and moving/scraping it outwards while tapping the key to free any dirt (won't work with the power key unless you disconnect the battery).

Also run Windows' keyboard trouble shooter:

Thanks, I am going to try to clean the contacts on the affected keys. Not sure how to do that but I am going to experiment. Strange assortment of keys affected. Just typing this I have to hit the "." key numerous times to get it to work. Sometimes I get multiple responses from one keystroke, leading me to think it is a contact issue. Wish me luck.

If none of my suggestions fixed the problem; the keyboard registry may have been remapped by some program:

Open the Registry Editor by navigating to C:\Windows\regedit.exe in Windows Explorer. Once it is open, navigate here:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout If there are entries named Scancode Map or Value Scancode Map, delete them. Those entries are what causes Windows to remap incoming key presses from the keyboard.

Once you are done deleting them, restart your computer. Key mappings will be reset to their default settings.

Thanks for the suggestions. Registry entries are all ok. Really starting to feel as though it is a hardware issue. I really appreciate the help.

Try to use the vacuum cleaner and gently use it on the keys slowly.

    Try windows x
    go to device manager
    expand keyboard
right click on keyboard driver - uninstall
    Restart the computer

    It should work fine..

Thanks for the suggestion. I have already uninstalled the keyboard driver numerous times and restarted for the driver to be reinstalled. Again, thank you for the help.
