I have a aspire A515-51G laptop Internet Connection Problem

The internet icon says there is no internet and for some programs I can't connect yet(says no internet). Yet I was able to connect to the Acer website. I contacted my internet provider and changed out my router & modem but no change. Spectrum suggests that my drivers might be corrupted? I did download the updates listed for my model. I am at a lost of what to do and have limited computer experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Usually and with the Intel wireless cards there are problems with updates, so be aware of that as that is the wireless card that you have, SO DON’T UPDATE INTEL WIRELESS CARDS only use the initial oem Acer provided drivers for the A515-51G laptop as they work 100% and updating this driver can and will give you problems or no Wi-Fi signal at all. Your A515-51G laptop has an Intel Wireless LAN Driver Version: 20.100.0.100 so only use this driver don’t update it!

Go to Device Manager > Network adapters > Intel Wireless Networ Adapter > Properties > Driver > Update Driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer >

Then choose the Intel Wi-Fi card that is fitted to your laptop by Acer and its oem driver that was installed with your wireless card by Acer which is the Intel Wireless LAN Driver is the Version: 20.100.0.100 (which should be in the list, see the example of this in the caption below), then install that driver and reboot the laptop, as after that your wireless card and bluetooth should work 100%.

As doing all the above will reinstall the wireless driver for your Intel card and make your wireless signal work with your modem, after you get the Intel Wi-Fi card recognized in the Device Mananger of your laptop and its oem driver is installed in your laptop, then login to your new wireless modem with your wireless password, as all this should make your wireless signal work 100% and perfectly with your laptop, as all the settings automatically set themselves up and work, you don't need to do anything and especially don't touch your wireless modems settings.

Don't know how old your laptop is but if more than 4 years you may have the 2017 Qualcom Atheros WIFI adapter NFA435 check in W10 System Info if you have this Atheros NFA435 adapter and make sure in Device Manager that the driver version is 11.0.10434. If your adapter is Intel, the latest 2020 WIFI driver version should be 20.100.0.100.

Check with a LAN cable to your router if you can connect to the Internet with your Realtek Ethernet adapter, just to make sure there are no router or ISP issues. Are you using MS Edge in Windows10 or a 3rd party browser, use Edge or Firefox.

If all this checks out and you don't see any yellow problem icons in Network devices Device Manager, run the W10 troubleshooter Networking, if a prompt shows “Reset your adapter” click Yes.

This is a tutorial how to setup your Internet connection in Windows10:

If you still cannot get online or cannot connect to certain sites, take your laptop to a public broadband point (mall, Starbucks) to see if it works there, you may have a DNS or security protocol issue with your ISP at home. Also your WIFI adapter can be tweaked in Properties>Advanced (browse the Internet what setting you can change).
